Abstract: |
Based on our experimental effluent data and the VFCW system dynamics, a STELLA model was developed to analyze the nitrification and denitrification processes. Results showed that the STELLA model had a poor prediction on the removal of organic nitrogen, but a better simulation on NO3--N, NH4+-N and TN removals. This study suggests that the STELLA model developed can be used to predict the nitrogen removal in a VFCW system under normal operational conditions, and therefore provides a theoretical basis to predict the effluent quality in the VFCW system. |
