Abstract: |
With the development of the industrial and agricultural sectors, highly toxic organic pollutants are being discharged into the soil. These pollutants pose potential mutagenic, teratogenic, and carcinogenic hazards, and may accumulate in the human body through the food chain. In recent years, nanomaterials have become a research hotspot in the field of soil remediation, especially with regard to organic pollutants, because of their large specific surface areas and excellent catalytic activities. In this review, the recent development and application of metallized nanomaterials and modified techniques, carbon-based nanomaterials, and polymeric nanomaterials were assessed; nanomaterial properties necessary for remediating soil contaminated with organic pollutants were summarized; and the synthesis and future directions of nanomaterial application were forecasted. This study could serve as a reference for future research on nanomaterials for the remediation of soil contaminated by organic pollutants. |
