SUMMARY OF ACADEMIC CONTRIBUTION

Genxing Pan is a Science Leader in the study of agriculture and climate change in Nanjing Agricultural University, China. His primary speciality has been ranged from applied biogeochemistry of C cycling to C carbon management in agricultural systems of China. sequestration and dynamics in agro-ecosystems focusing on rice paddies of China, of which the most recent focus include long-term monitoring of soil organic matter accumulation in agro-ecosystem and the functioning and eco-services for crop production and agro-sustainability. He leads an interdisciplinary group working on greenhouse gases emission from croplands and mitigation countermeasures as well as on mitigation of climate change impact on agriculture recently, in terms of food security and agro-sustainability. He has also specific interest and expertise on carbon emission accounting and footprinting for carbon management technical options relevant to policy making for climate change mitigation in terms of land use and waste management in agriculture of China. In particular, his group has developed a series of carbon accounting and footprinting methodologies and registered software for agricultural projects on carbonization and biochar production and use, and crow straw fuel from crop straw, and conservation tillage and recommended rational fertilization in agriculture. These are under review for potential use in the ongoing national voluntary mitigation trading mechanism. He has participated or led national or global assessment of climate change mitigation in land use and agriculture since 2006.
