SHI Zhou(Associate Editor)

 SHI Zhou is the Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University, and vice dean of College of Environmental and Resource Sciences of Zhejiang University in China. He has an undergraduate degree in geography science from Hangzhou University, and a MAgr and PhD degrees in agricultural resources and environment from Zhejiang University. He was awarded the title of “New Century Talents in University” from the Ministry of Education of China in 2009.

He specialize in the use of mathematical methods and information technology to measure and model soil in space and time to help increase productivity, reduce soil degradation and increase carbon storage, especially involved in research of pedometrics, proximal soil sensing, soil spectroscopy, and digital soil mapping. He has more than 210 journal publications, won numerous awards of the Scientific and Technological Progress in China. He was elected as the chair of Working Group of Proximal Soil Sensing in International Union of Soil Science (2016-2019), and the chair of Committee of Soil Remote Sensing and Information System in Soil Science Society of China (2012-2020). He has collaborated with more than ten international institutes and taken research activities at the University of Tokyo, CSIRO, Rothamsted Research,University of Cambridge, German Aerospace Center, Dresden University of Technology, Queen’s University of Belfast as a visiting scholar.
